Professional Experience
Shauna Grace Eriksen is a Registered Psychologist with over 24 years of experience in supporting children, youth, adults, Elders, and families through a broad range of treatment programs aimed at addressing multi-generational trauma and complex PTSD.
Since 2002, she has worked with the Mamowitchihitowin (Wellness) Program in the Grande Yellowhead Region. She was the first program therapist and developed the clinical model with the guidance of the Hinton Friendship Centre, and local Indigenous communities. Through her experience in providing treatment to victims and perpetrators of sexual abuse through the Mamowitchihitowin (Wellness) Model and her own intensive personal pursuit of cultural teachings, she has deepened her insight into approaching trauma from both a traditional Indigenous and evidenced based lens.
She has come to recognize that true healing requires treating the deeper issues of separation from one’s medicine wheel (spirit, heart, body and mind), community, and the Earth. This realization has guided the trajectory of Shauna Grace’s career. Her extensive experience treating trauma through research and evidence-based practices combined with teachings from Blackfeet, Cree, and Sinixt Elders have strengthened her resolve to support, facilitate and advocate for holistic healing processes for both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous families, their communities, and the Earth. In this way, healing and sustainability are at the heart of her resolve in her practice.
