You will have the space to share your story and be heard through a trauma informed lens and be offered skilled clinical intervention to meet your own unique needs. This process will guide you to your own inner wisdom, strengths and gifts. You may just realize you are the one you have been waiting for.

You have been telling people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour. And there are things to be considered…

Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?

Know your garden.
It is time to speak your truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for your leader.

Then he clasped his hands together, smiled, and said, “This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The Elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.

And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.

The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word ’struggle’ from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

Resiliency, the beauty of life growing around obstacles.

Models of therapy that influence her work include:

Narrative therapy, Family Systems, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Somatic approaches, Cognitive processing therapy (CPT), HTT Historical Trauma Transmission, Eco-therapy.

Narrative Therapy  is a highly respectful, non-blaming approach to counselling and community work, which views people as the experts of their own lives. It conceptualizes problems as separate from the person and focuses on the client’s skills, competencies, beliefs, values, and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives. It also takes into account the individual, family, community, and cultural narratives that can lead to racism, discrimination, and marginalization. Understanding these larger problem stories can create freedom and space for a person to follow their truest vision of themselves.

Family Systems Therapy combines different modalities (Bowen, IFS, Structural, Virginia Satir, Narrative) that focus on resolving couple and family conflict as well as the long lasting struggles resulting from family trauma. In this way, family sytems approach can be utilized in individual, couple and family therapy. This approach allows us to understand the roles that a person has been conditioned to play from a young age and how this is impacting their current relationships. It also understands how multi-generational trauma impacts relational and behavioral patterns.

EMDR is an acronym for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy. It is an intervention designed to address traumatic events and the behavioral, emotional, somatic, mental and spiritual impacts that result from adverse life experiences. EMDR has been shown to be effective for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). EMDR may also offer assistance to curb your urges and addictive behaviours, help with anxiety and other mental health concerns.

Somatic Therapy honors the wisdom of the body. It recognizes that the body’s memory is often more accurate and relevant then cognitive memory. It looks at discharging trauma through working with the body and allowing people to become free from chronic fight, flight, freeze responses that impact one’s entire well- being.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy that has been effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD resulting from a variety of traumatic events including child abuse, combat, rape and natural disasters. CPT is generally delivered over 12 sessions and helps patients learn how to challenge and modify unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma.

Historical Trauma Transmission is a model to describe intergenerational trauma and implications for healing for Indigenous populations and non-Indigenous populations that have experienced severe trauma. This model provides an explanation of trauma transmission, (epigenetics), Complex PTSD, and the importance of healing through culture and community.

Eco-therapy is an emerging model of therapy that recognizes the critical importance of the relationship between our connection to nature (the Earth) and mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health. From the perspective of this model, the environmental crisis is linked with mental health issues. Indigenous Peoples from time immemorial have known the importance of being in right relations with the Earth to be whole and to sustain life.
